Body Care Favourites

14:20

Hi guys,

This week I am bringing to you some of my favourite body care items. We spend so much time making sure our skincare on our face is right but often forget how important the skin on our body is too. I am totally guilty of this at times, especially when I'm in a rush, but I pay for it later when my skin becomes dry, grey looking and dull. Winter is the worst time of year for my skin on my body. The wind chill in addition to the heating being on constantly is a bad combination.  I have put together a post of some of my favourite items that I have been using for a while now that keep my skin feeling great.

First of all we have the Neal'sYard Remedies Mother's Bath Oil. I was gifted these on my baby shower however and have been using them post natal too. The scent of the bath oil is so relaxing it literally melts my aches and pains away. In the past I have been a fan of bath bombs and hadn't really used oils much but I prefer oils more now. I find that the essential oils penetrate through the skin and really leave your skin and muscles feeling soothed. It contains organic Bergamot, Ylang Ylang and Lavender which all leave the skin feeling nourished. It really feels like an opulent product and once you have tried it, it really is the only bath you want to take.

If you prefer taking a shower then I would recommend trying the Bilou shower foams. They are available from Superdrug and come in a variety of fun and quirky scents from Fizzy Berry to Cotton Candy. They are fun to use and my little girls absolutely love using them in the shower. In terms of skin care I didn't really find that they added any moisture to the skin but the texture of the foam is so smooth and it brings something a little different to shower time. It also leaves you smelling good enough to eat. I really enjoyed using these and they left me feeling refreshed. For an extra hit of sweetness you can also use the body spray after showering with the foams and this makes  scent linger a little longer!

A new addiction to my body care routine is the Dermalogica Thermafoliant Body Scrub*. It has a very rich, grainy texture which melts into the skin when exfoliating and I just can't stop using it in my shower routine. It contains Indian Bamboo Stem and Papain which are known to promote skin renewal as well as strengthen the skin barrier. It also contains anti-oxidants and tea tree oil which leave you feeling energised and refreshed. I have been using this specifically on my stomach area for the past two months, as this has the most uneven texture and colour on my body due to my pregnancy. I have found using the Thermafoliant Body Scrub along with the Phyto Replenish Body Oil* after showering have helped to renew my skin in this area, leaving it brighter and more even in tone. These products add a little bit of luxury to my body routine and I am enjoying using them!

The Phyto Replenish Body Oil is a non greasy oil that absorbs beautifully into the skin leaving it feeling supple and glowing.  The oil can be applied on its own or with damp hands to create a milky texture. I love applying it neat all over my body once out of the shower, but once again have been applying it to my stomach area to encourage the skin in my stretch marks to replenish. It is scented with Patchouli and Sandalwood so also gives your body a lovely smell. The products are vegan, cruelty free and gluten free. The Phyto Oil also comes in a glass bottle and a beautifully decorated box designed by Kelsey Montague so would make a lovely gift. If you are serious about keeping your  skin in good condition I would say this is a must have product as it is professional grade skin care in the comfort of your own home.

The final products I use practically everyday are from the Palmers Cocoa Butter Stretch Marks* range. Not only do I use these around my stomach but all over my body too as they are packed with cocoa butter, shea butter, elastin, collagen and natural oils which are amazing at improving the look and feel of skin. They keep my skin feeling soft, nourished and supple. I don't use these particularly to target my stretch marks but instead I enjoy using them as everyday moisturisers especially in these colder months. They are free from phthalates, parabens and mineral oil and perfect for sensitive skin.

The older I get the more I am beginning to take care of all of my skin including my body and not just my face and I am reaping the benefits as my skin looks and feels softer. Having a good routine in the winter also prepares our skin for the warmer months when it's more on show. Tell me your favourite body care products in the comments below!
